Lake district, Sachsen / Brandenburg
Navigable waterway connections
Europe’s largest artificial lake district is being developed in the former Lusatian mining area. The lakes are intended to be used for various purposes, particularly for tourism and water sports, and are being connected together by canals. These canals are, to some extent, navigable and equipped with semi-automated lock facilities. Inros Lackner provided planning and design services for Canals 1, 6 and 7 between 2005 and 2011. The work included, among other items, various bridge structures, canals with entrance and exit areas, locks including approaches and the integration and modification of transport connections. Construction monitoring services were also provided for Canals 12 and 13.
