The southernmost 11 km-long section of the A14 autobahn, between Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Brandenburg, was opened to traffic on 20th December 2017. Minister-President Manuela Schwesig commented that the event was a key milestone in the ongoing improvement in connectivity with central Germany and an important onward connection as far as the Czech Republic. The A14, she noted, is important for the economy and for regional tourism. By 2022, the autobahn is expected to be continuous from Schwerin to Magdeburg.
Inros Lackner participated substantially in the construction of the autobahn, providing planning, design and construction supervision services for various sections in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In the part which has now been opened to traffic, the company designed a number of bridges, including the 506 m-long semi-integral Elde Valley Bridge, and various noise protection and collision protection measures. The design work also involved geotechnical, hydraulic, acoustic and environmental design aspects, and surveying work, examination of hazardous substances and coordination of safety and health protection measures.
