While sustainability in building construction has been systematically assessed for many years, the topic is still in its infancy in civil engineering. Dr Ronny Glaser, Managing Director of INROS LACKNER SE, is committed to ensuring that bridges, infrastructure and hydraulic engineering structures are also assessed according to clear sustainability criteria in future – with a view to their carbon footprint, life cycle costs and possible alternatives. In an interview with the specialist magazine Konstruktiver Ingenieurbau, Ronny Glaser explains which steps are necessary to bring about a rethink in planning and construction.
