2023 HTG Sustainability Award
Award for sustainable technical solutions: Our planning and design team, consisting of specialist engineers from the fields of hydraulic engineering and electrical engineering, in consortium with Fichtner Water & Transportation GmbH, received this year's sustainability award from the German Port Technology Association (HTG). The award ceremony took place during the HTG Congress on November 2nd. The project team was honoured for its convincing concept for modular onshore power supply systems in ports. The innovative solution makes a significant contribution towards the transition to sustainable energy sources and environmentally friendly technologies. Tobias Günzl, Head of Hydraulic Engineering and Port Logistics, accepted the award on behalf of the entire team. Congratulations on this special honor!
The onshore power supply systems enable ships to switch off their diesel generators while docked in a port, and instead use 100%-green electricity from the public grid. This measure substantially reduces CO2 emissions, as well as emissions of pollutants such as sulphur oxides and nitrogen oxides. These changes not only protect the environment, but also make an important contribution to sustainability in port operations.
