52 years with Team Togo
Togo, May 2026: Some careers also tell a part of a company’s history. This is certainly true of Mawoekpo Kpetemey. He has played a decisive role in shaping the development of Inros Lackner Togo over more than five decades. When he joined the company in Januar 1974, the second phase of expansion of the Port of Lomé was just beginning. Since then, he has supported every subsequent stage of the port's development right up to the present day. Along the way, he has also contributed to numerous other landmark projects, including the rehabilitation of the railway bridge and cargo-handling facilities of the Société Nouvelle des Phosphates du Togo (SNPT), various road and coastal protection measures, and the construction of the new fishing port.
"Alongside my work at the port of Lomé, I received extensive training when I joined Inros Lackner. In the evenings, I often went to the office to study. At first, it felt unfamiliar, but I soon came appreciate the german way of working: precise, reliable and built on strong teamwork,” recalls Mawoekpo Kpetemey. In Lomé, he was given a heartfelt farewell by colleagues, familiy, friends and long-standing companions. “People like Mawoekpo Kpetemey demonstrate just how valuable long-term commitment, professional expertise and team spirit are to a company’s success,” said Christian Esser, Managing Director of Inros Lackner Togo. Together with Mawoekpo Kpetemey, his wife Ablafe Kpetemey and Edem Adjaklo, Head of Hydrography and CAD, he travelled to Germany from 26 to 29 May. The farewell tour included visits to the company's offices in Rostock and Bremen, as well as a stop in Hamburg.
During a reception at our Bremen office, Dr. Klaus Richter, Managing Director, summed it up perfectly: “Mawoekpo Kpetemey embodies the DNA of Inros Lackner: technical expertise, continuity, customer focus and collegiality. We are proud that he has helped shape and supported our company in Togo for 52 years. It is wonderful that we will continue to work together even after his retirement through our charitable organisation IL-Hilft. Mawoekpo Kpetemey will oversee a number of construction projects to expand a school in Adétikopé, a suburb of Lomé.” The day concluded with a joint dinner attended by Honorary Consul Ilse Fliege from the Honorary Consulate of Togo.
Thank you for 52 years of dedication, loyalty and cooperation!
