Warnemünde Sports School
On 22 May 2025, the new sports school in Warnemünde was officially opened – an important future-oriented project of the state sports association of the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The sports school welcomed numerous high-profile guests to the ceremony, including Minister-President Manuela Schwesig, North Rhine-Westphalia’s Minister-President Hendrik Wüst, Rostock's Mayor Eva-Maria Kröger, and IOC member Michael Mronz.
The modern new building will particularly promote sailing in the region and play a key role in potential Olympic bids.
A key aspect of the construction project is the required high-performance building services, for which Inros Lackner’s team provided the associated planning and design. Future-proof solutions ensure a sustainable and efficient energy supply, involving geothermal energy, a solar thermal energy system on the main roof, and a photovoltaic system on the boathouse structure. A gas boiler is also provided to cover peak loads.
A special highlight is the modern media control system in the conference area, where a permanently installed 172-inch screen and smaller mobile screens (86-96 inches) facilitate real-time transmission of audio and video signals between all rooms – ideal for conferences, courses and ongoing sports training and education.
The facility is located at the Warnemünde marina and offers ideal conditions for education, training and recovery. It features a modern sports hall, a gym, a sauna, a spacious boathouse with an integrated workshop, and 50 rooms and apartments with a total of 121 beds.
