Webinar Focus GreenTech

Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) and the German Association of Consulting Engineers (VBI) jointly hosted a webinar on 27 February that highlighted business opportunities in the context of climate finance and international cooperation and offered interesting insights into innovative GreenTech solutions.

One topic of the webinar was the pioneering cross-border coastal protection project in Togo and Benin, presented by Christian Esser, Regional Director at Inros Lackner Togo. The project is part of the World Bank-funded WACA programme (West Africa Coastal Areas Management Programme), which supports West African countries in strengthening their resilience to climate change. The main objective is to stabilise the coastline in the border area between Togo and Benin in order to protect the population from progressive coastal erosion.

Inros Lackner is in charge of construction supervision and project coordination in engineering cooperation with Antea Group Belgium. The project includes the construction and rehabilitation of a total of 25 groynes and one longitudinal groyne. In addition, around 7 million cubic metres of sand were dredged in the coastal area to stabilise the coastline and protect the communities from the effects of climate change.
