White City of Ashgabat 2026
Ashgabat, May 2026: The 24th “White City Ashgabat 2026”, an international conference and exhibition focusing on architecture, innovation, and sustainable urban development, took place on May 24–25 in the Turkmen capital, Ashgabat, once again bringing together experts from around the world. This year’s event centered on forward-looking topics such as smart cities and digitalization, green architecture, sustainable urbanization, as well as intelligent energy solutions and innovations in education, healthcare, and human capital.
Torsten Retzlaff, Managing Director of Inros Lackner SE, participated in the high-level panel discussion “Smart Urban Development and Modern Construction Solutions.” In his presentation, he emphasised the global significance of the three key dimensions of a sustainable European city, as set out in the ‘Leipzig Charter’, as an integrated approach – equitable, green and productive. He also spoke about cloud-based BIM and GIS technologies as a crucial factor in managing increasing project complexity and ensuring efficient, transparent project delivery.
"The combination of clear sustainability principles and digital planning technologies is essential to successfully address the growing challenges and complexity of urban development," said Torsten Retzlaff.
Inros Lackner brings many years of national and international experience in this field and has been supporting infrastructure development in Turkmenistan for more than twelve years. A further important step in this partnership was achieved during the conference: Torsten Retzlaff signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Highways and Roads. The agreement underlines the shared ambition to develop high-quality, safe, and sustainable infrastructure.
Overall, the professional exchange at the conference demonstrated that sustainable infrastructure development succeeds through the effective interplay of strategy, financing, and consistent collaboration across disciplines and national borders.
