Hanoi City Museum, Vietnam

In association with the architectural firm gmp (von Gerkan, Marg & Partners, Hamburg), Inros Lackner won the competition for the construction of Hanoi’s new museum for city history, taking responsibility for technical building equipment, structural design, and civil and infrastructure engineering. The design of the Museum of Urban History in Hanoi unites architecture and engineering - a special relation highlighting the heritage of Hanoi over the last 1,000 years. The building’s 14,000 m² of exhibition and service areas are located in the upper part of the four-storey structure, which has a gross floor area of 30,000 m². The basement houses technical facilities, storage rooms, a round, dividable conference room for 500 people as well as a second conference room for 500 people. A notable feature is the load-bearing roof structure for the suspended ceilings. The project extends over a total surface of 5.4 hectares.
