Renovation and extension
Inros Lackner’s design proposal for the extension and remodelling of Rostock’s city hall evidently impressed Rostocker Messe- und Stadthallengesellschaft mbH, the company with responsibility as client for the modernisation of the 36-year-old city hall. The capacity of its main hall is being increased to 6,700, and the foyer will be approximately 1,900 m2 bigger and twice as high. The main objective is to ensure adequate space for exhibitions, and to offer visitors increased comfort at concerts, sporting events and balls. The modernisation transforms the city hall into an attractive and competitive event centre of national significance. Inros Lackner was appointed to the role of General Planner for the project. The opening is planned for 1st May 2018, during the 800th anniversary celebrations of the Hanseatic City of Rostock.
