Technical building equipment for a multifunctional event center

This multifunctional conference center is at the heart of the United Nations area in Bonn. It was constructed on an area of 32,000 m2, and includes a multifunctional conference hall for 3,500 guests, a number of meeting rooms for 100 to 500 people, and a multi-storey hotel building with 400 rooms and service, lounge and restaurant areas. Access to different areas is provided by a 2,500 m2 foyer with a glass roof.

Technical building equipment planning/design services:

  • Medium and low voltage system (2 x 300 kVA)
  • Emergency power supply system (500 kVA)
  • Multifunctional sound system (100V technology)
  • Air-conditioning system (400,000 m³/h)
  • Central cooling system (approximately 2,900 kW), consisting of compression and absorption refrigerating machines, combined with an ice storage system
  • Central heating system (approximately 2,300 kW), from a combination of district heating, solar thermal generation and heat pumps
  • Water supply for fire-fighting, including hydrant and sprinkler system
  • Sprinkler system activation integrated in floor/roof slabs at each level
  • Central building management system (BMS), based on LonWorks
