Modernisation University Hospital, Rostock

The university hospital on the “Schillingallee campus” has recently been developed into a modern centre for patient care, research and teaching. In a first phase, while maintaining uninterrupted hospital operations, the following measures were implemented within a very tight timeframe:

  • Construction of a three-storey building as a future centre for campus supply and disposal processes
  • Reconstruction and renovation of the three parts of the surgical hospital’s heritage-protected main building
  • Construction of the Central Medical Functions building, with three upper floors and a basement, to house almost all of the hospital’s highly specialised departments and a number of wards and services
  • Interconnection of various departments and locations by means of an automatic package transport system and a pneumatic tube conveying system
  • A geothermal plant, as a basis for a “green hospital”
