NORDEX factory extension, Rostock
Optimisation of the production of rotor blades

Nordex is one of the world's leading wind turbine producers and wind farm operators. The extension of the company’s Rostock rotor blade production facility involved the construction of several halls, and installations and extensions of various sizes. The project, which was completed in 2010, also included storage and logistics areas, ancillary buildings, technical equipment and various infrastructure improvements. Inros Lackner participated in the project in the role of General Planner. The planning and design process comprised, among other things, in a first phase, the expansion of existing rotor blade fabrication facilities by means of a hall extension (approx. 133 x 105 x 21 m) and a second building, the finishing hall (162 x 56 x 21 m). In a second phase, an extension consisting of production halls for nacelle (rotation hub unit) assembly, for control cabinets and for a blade testing rig was designed.
