Sewa Bridge, Sierra Leone

225-metre-long bridge

The Bandajuma-Liberia Border Road and Bridges project is supported by the European Union and aims to improve transport infrastructure while strengthening cross-border connectivity between Sierra Leone and Liberia. With the upgrading of 100 km of road and the construction of new bridges over the Sewa, Wanjie and Moa rivers, cross-border trade and cooperation in the Mano River Union is to be expanded.

A central structure of this major project is the new Sewa Bridge, a modern composite bridge that meets both current traffic requirements and future challenges in terms of durability and efficiency. It was designed and implemented as a composite bridge with a steel substructure and a reinforced concrete superstructure.
