Spremberg Spree Bridge

Aluminium truss structure

Due to significant structural damage, the Spree Bridge – a seven-span reinforced concrete bridge in Spremberg – was closed, and a replacement structure (total span length 57.3 m) with just one central pier was constructed across the Spree river. The project's objective was to create a safe, durable and environmentally sound connection for pedestrian and cycle traffic. The design of the new bridge took special account of flood protection and nature conservation considerations. It was built as an aluminium truss structure, offering several advantages – its light weight facilitating construction and reducing environmental impact, while the design will also help achieve a long service life with low maintenance costs.
