MegaHub Lehrte, Hanover

Fast transshipment facility for combined transport

The Megahub facility is a future project in rail-road transhipment. The centrally located rail hub is 20 kilometres east of Hanover and has connections to Hamburg, Berlin, Braunschweig, Hildesheim and Hanover. In the fast transshipment facility with high-performance gantry cranes and a new type of sorting system, goods are transshipped more efficiently, thus expanding combined transport as an environmentally friendly form of transport by rail. The incoming containers are redistributed as complete loading units onto goods trains after their destinations. Freight wagons do not have to be shunted or reassembled for this purpose. The Inros-Lackner team coordinated the technical planning and prepared and accompanied the financing and approval procedures.
