Federal Highway A114, Berlin

The fundamental renewal of the A114 federal motorway covered a stretch of about 7 kilometres, starting at the junction with the A10 (Berlin ring road) to the urban network of Berlin (Pankow). A particular challenge was the implementation of current regulations (especially RAA and RPS) due to the existing traffic facilities with a parallel development and the adjacent water bodies. The requirements of the Berlin Water Act were integrated into the planning and taken into account. In addition to the object planning of the traffic facilities and structures, various line modification measures were realised on existing facilities of Berliner Wasserbetriebe. Important aspects were the investigation of a relief route, the planning of traffic routing during the construction period and the renovation or redesign of the existing structures.
