Hafencity area, Hamburg
Residential and commercial use in HafenCity is increasing, and with it the volume of traffic around HafenCity. As part of the external development of HafenCity, the Ferdinandstor intersection is being upgraded. The intersection is located in the city center between the Inner and Outer Alster lakes and is an important east-west link on the ring road. In the course of the redesign, the arrangement of the lanes will be optimized and expanded to improve turning options. In addition, the intersection's traffic signals will be completely renewed and the facilities for bicycle traffic will be upgraded to improve performance. Together with the Hamburg office BKP, a functional traffic routing was planned, taking into account the simultaneous renovation of the Wallring Tunnel and other construction measures in the overall area.
