Trade fair expressway, Hanover

In the planning area of the state capital of Hannover, the Bundesstraße 3 (B3) is part of the Messeschnellweg (trade fair expressway) and is an essential component of the large-scale road network. The elevated Weidetor road is part of the B3 and passes over a roundabout in the city. The structure was built in 1964 and needs to be replaced. The planning area, which is about 1.5 km long in total, is characterised by the demands of the different road users who meet at the "Weidetor roundabout" junction. In the future, traffic will be handled via a junction and all bicycle and pedestrian traffic will be newly regulated. Part of this is also the planning of the necessary temporary bypass to maintain traffic during the construction period.
