A39 motorway junction, Braunschweig
Reconstruction with unhindered crossing

Due to growing traffic volumes and the increasing importance of the A39 autobahn in a national context, the motorway junction “Braunschweig Southwest” required to be fundamentally reconstructed. The most notable aspect of the redesign works is the way in which the A39 autobahn, from Kassel and Salzgitter to Berlin and Wolfsburg, is now continuous through the junction. The often heavily congested stretch between “Braunschweig Southwest” and the crossing “Braunschweig South” was also widened to six lanes.

  • Reconstruction / New construction of 15.5 km of autobahn
  • Construction of a bridge over a railway line
  • Construction of overpasses and motorway structures
  • Demolition of existing bridges
  • Modification / New construction of junctions
  • Modification of local and urban roads
  • Modification of water supply and wastewater disposal lines
  • Construction of noise protection barriers
