Tauentzien Street, Berlin
Redesign of road median

In the course of rehabilitation works on the local subway station, the median between the carriageways of Tauentzien Street was redesigned. The project included the placing of coloured mosaic paving along the median and the west side of the Wittenbergplatz subway station building as far as the Europacenter. The main design characteristic was the planting beds, newly constructed from profiled natural granite, which were alternately positioned on opposite sides of the median with varying shapes, heights and alignments, and supplemented with seating elements. The granite walls, parts of which form raised planting beds, were planted with yew trees.
