International Garden Show 2013, Hamburg
“Around the world in 80 gardens”
The 2013 International Garden Show took place on the River Elbe island of Wilhelmsburg in Hamburg. The preparation of the site in line with its motto – “Around the world in 80 gardens” – demanded sophisticated designs for park landscapes, garden areas and park water features, and also for the required infrastructure such as bridges, footways and water supply and wastewater disposal facilities. Inros Lackner was appointed to plan and design the implementation of the customer's varied concepts and ideas in close cooperation with other involved parties such as specialist designers and the responsible technical authorities. In doing this, it was necessary to consider that some parts of the property would only be used for the event, while others would also be used from 2014 onwards.
Various water supply and wastewater disposal facilities were designed, to operate temporarily or permanently as appropriate. Since the uses to which the facilities would be subjected after the event were not yet known, their design was subject to forward-looking hydraulic network calculations which would ensure adequate supply and disposal capacities for many years to come, regardless of use. This also applied to the design of building power supply and park lighting, and the operation of platforms and fountains.
