Tortola Ferry Terminal, Virgin Island

Modernisation and expansion

Tortola, the largest of the British Virgin Islands, is a popular destination for cruise ships, private yacht owners and tourists. For the British and American Virgin Islands connections, the West End Ferry Terminal is of great tourist and economic importance. Approximately 40 per cent of all arrivals to the British Virgin Islands were handled by the terminal prior to its destruction in 2017 by Hurricanes Maria and Irma. In 2019, the jetty and terminal building were temporarily redeveloped and reopened. However, the terminal no longer meets modern requirements. Modernisation and expansion was a necessary step even before the damage. In August 2021 the planning for the ferry terminal had begun. Inros Lackner is responsible for the planning and construction supervision.
