Flood protection, Bavaria
Demanding planning in the alpine region
The 2012 torrent rehabilitation concept of the municipality of Bad Hindelang shows a very high risk from the Vorderhindelang village torrent. According to this, a debris flow with a volume of about 10,700 m3 of debris and 1,200 m3 of driftwood can occur during a hundred-year flood event. The current protection system is not able to discharge such an event without damage. A new consolidation and bedload dosing barrier is to achieve sufficient retention of bedload and alluvial wood above the settlement area. The engineering consortium Inros Lackner SE and Ingenieurbüro Kokai GmbH were commissioned with the planning services to improve flood protection.
