Spreeufer, Berlin

Rehabilitation of the bank stabilisation

By 2024, the embankments at Wikingerufer (approx. 380 m) and Bonhoefferufer (approx. 450 m) on the Spree will be rehabilitated. The inner-city location of the construction sites and the insufficient stability of the existing structures, which are more than 100 years old, pose special challenges for the planning. In part, extensive immediate securing measures were necessary, which were directly designed as drilling and working levels for the construction of the new replacement building.  As a result of the planning services, the following constructive solutions were implemented: Bonhoefferufer (overlapped bored pile wall or rehabilitation of the bank edging) and Wikingerufer (tied-back sheet pile wall with attached reinforced concrete wall). Emergency exits and moorings for passenger ships were constructed at both bank edgings.
