Schulauer Harbour, Wedel
As part of a large-scale urban development project, Schulau Harbour was redesigned into a modern marina for pleasure boats. The existing harbour basin was given a clearer structure, shortened somewhat and widened in order to achieve more favourable proportions for the berths and to create a central harbour square. By moving back the flood protection line in the eastern edge area and building a seating area, the harbour was opened up to the city. An essential component is the redesign of the harbour entrance. The construction of a transverse breakwater will reduce the amount of silt entering the harbour and improve the swell situation for harbour berth holders. The access for traditional ships was also taken into account, and a separate mooring for excursions was created.
