Poehlbach, Saxony

The Pöhlbach is a tributary of the Zschopau in Saxony and the Czech Republic. In its current state, it does not meet the requirements of the European Water Framework Directive. In addition to material pollution, hydromorphological changes are the main pollution factors. These include the altered watercourse structure and impairments in ecological passability for aquatic organisms such as fish and macrozoobenthos. With the help of a DPSIR analysis, the current status is evaluated step by step, the deficits are determined and a causality and causation analysis is carried out. On this basis, measures for the hydromorphology action area are defined and compared with possible restrictions (e.g. from nature conservation and flood protection, contaminated sites, monument protection, land use claims, etc.).
