Silver water, Saxony
The river Silberwasser will be reprofiled over a length of approx. 90 m and the existing bed and embankment reinforcement will be removed. The measures are identified in the region's flood risk management plan for sustainable reconstruction planning. The embankments will be secured with a stone insert made of armourstone, which will be vegetated above the water level at HQ(100). The design of the riverbed meets the requirements for resistance to current attack and, with the arrangement of groynes integrated into the substrate of the riverbed, simultaneously creates the basis for the self-dynamic development of a low-water channel. This is supported by sturgeon stones, which create resting zones for fish. In the bridge area, the massive protection is formed by hydraulic engineering cobbles in the concrete bed with open joints, so that a migration of macrozoobenthos is possible.
