Modernisation and construction of a ship lift in India

Cochin Shipyard Ltd. in Kerala, India, builds modern ships for the international market and is a major employer with the largest shipbuilding and repair yard in India. The site, which includes a wharf, dry dock and repair shops dating back to 1938, is 16 hectares in size with a waterfront that is 800 meters long. The company's site in the port of Cochin was redeveloped and expanded to ensure international competitiveness. 

Measures included the construction of an international ship repair facility, a ship lift with transport systems, and two ship jetties. Inros Lackner, in a consortium with TATA Consulting Engineers, was in charge of the planning and execution phases and provided consulting services.
