Elbe lowlands waterbody protection, Sachsen-Anhalt
In the floodplains of the River Elbe’s lowlands in central Germany, various measures were implemented over a period of many years to protect against flooding, to cultivate the land, to improve the profitability of local agriculture and to regulate ground and water conditions. All these measures enabled the agricultural use of the land to be optimised, but protection of the waterbodies was seriously neglected. This project shall initiate a positive development in this regard, with a nature-orientated design of the waterbodies. The main objective is to re-establish the watercourse character of the “Lüderitz Tanger”, and thereby to ensure good ecological conditions and ecological passability for fish.
For the extensive planning and design work required, Inros Lackner was contracted to provide the relevant services in relation to waterbody project and structural design, renaturation measures and environmental design.
