Rhine port, Cologne
Extension of loading facilities

Basell Polyolefine GmbH – the world leader in polyolefin production – is expanding its cargo handling capacity in the Rhine port of Cologne-Godorf. In a first step, the loading facility used for handling naphtha was extended to manage the growing volumes. In addition to the installation of a new loading crane, further extensive technical modifications are being planned, designed and implemented. Among other measures, the loading facility and its equipment are being upgraded to suit new, considerably increased ship dimensions. New regulations relating to the handling of pollutants and strict fire prevention requirements, and the associated emergency route concepts, also have to be taken into consideration in further planning and design activities.
