Schulauer Harbour, Wedel
Harbour reconstruction and construction of new entrance
As part of a major city development project, the city of Wedel’s Schulauer Harbour has been developed into a modern sports boat harbour. The harbour basin’s layout has been modified to be more clearly defined, somewhat shortened and widened, in order to achieve improved dimensions for the individual berths and to create a central harbour square. The pushing back of the flood protection line along the east side and the construction of distinctive harbour entrance structures resulted in an opening up of the harbour to the city. A key element of the works was the redesign of the harbour entrance. Thanks to the construction of a breakwater, less silt is washed into the harbour and water swelling is reduced for the moored boats. The entry of old-style boats was also considered.
